Precursor Games Halts Shadow Of The Eternals Development

Shadow of the Eternals, the Kickstarter hopeful successor to Eternal Darkness, missed its pledge mark, and the developer has announced that it’s halting development.
The project has had its share of hiccups with a canceled and relaunched Kickstarter, legal problems, after which it was unable to achieve its Kickstarter goal.
Denis Dyack posted a message at the official Precursor Games message boards saying the team is taking a break. Hope isn’t always completely lost for the sport as Dyack answered everyone’s first question: is the project dead? “No, but we feel it needs a rest,” Dyack said. It’s unclear if, when, or in what form Shadow of the Eternals will return, but Dyack seems to believe the team will pick the project back up sooner or later sooner or later.
You can inspect the total text of the message that appeared at the Shadow of the Eternals message boards below.
It is with a heavy heart that we have got decided to place the Shadow of the Eternals project on hold. We’re more than happy with what we now have accomplished both as a set and with the community. The community has blown us away and was the single thing that kept us dealing with all of it – we can’t thanks enough.
Many people shall be taking a break. For people who aren’t aware, all of us worked in this project as a labor of affection and self financed 100% of everything for a over a year to check out to make Shadow of the Eternals a reality. Although we failed to succeed on doing this, we succeeded in making many friends and starting something that we are hoping provided value for those involved. We haven’t any regrets.
Denis, Phil and Aaron have decided to continue to run the forums if you happen to want to stay hang around and talk. Denis, Phil and Aaron may also be taking a break but should be around posting and talking with everyone after they can. Others from Precursor can also be popping in sometimes.
Is the project dead? No, but we feel it needs a rest too. We now have all agreed as a gaggle that once and if the time is good we shall social gathering and begin it up again.
Keep your head high everyone and remember what we’ve accomplished together.

Our Take
Despite good intentions, and the thrill surrounding the possibility of a sequel to Eternal Darkness, Shadow of the Eternals was plagued with issues since its original announcement. It’s disappointing, but not too surprising that Precursor has decided to position the sport on hold. i might still desire to see the general game someday, but i’m not confident that we are going to be seeing and even hearing from the sport anytime soon.
