‘Amnesia’ Makers Continue to Tease Sci-Fi Game

Last week Frictional Games, the makers of the Amnesia horror games, post a brand new teaser website for what’s, presumably, the studio’s next game. The location and a live-action teaser trailer show what seems to be a brand new sci-fi game that comes with artificial intelligence someway. Today, Frictional released another teaser for Soma during the website.

Like the former video, this one can be live-action. It stars the similar red-headed researcher from the former trailer, spoke of within the website text as AM Engineer Imogen Reed. She sits down for an interview with a partially self-disassembled machine lying on a workroom floow. The machine, called “Mockingbird” within the site text, argues with Reed and refers to itself as Adam Golaski. Then the human Golaski shows up.

Two videos in and there’s still little to move directly to determine what Soma may be about. Still, there are clues. As well as the obviously spooky nature of the AI within the videos, the nature within the videos is called “AM Engineer.” AM is the designation of a synthetic intelligence in a famous Harlan Ellison short story called I actually have No Mouth, and that i Must Scream. If there’s a connection and the name seriously is not simply an homage, it might mean that Frictional is indeed making another horror game, because the short story itself is a classic of sci-fi horror.
