Team17 To start out Publishing Indie Games

Game developer Team17 today announced that it’ll soon make a move into third-party publishing of games. Team17 is healthier referred to as the improvement studio behind the Worms series of games, which debuted just over 18 years ago. More recently the studio rebooted its Superfrog franchise with Superfrog HD.

Team17 was originally a 3rd-party publisher behind classic games similar to Alien Breed and Super Stardust as well as Superfrog. In today’s announcement the studio explained why this is making its move back to publishing when plainly other smaller online game publishers are struggling:

Ultimately, the timing is good; Team17 is in a totally fortunate position with a wealth of private experience to share. Team17 has an immense community running into many millions that we will cross-promote within and lift awareness for brand new IPs and specifically indie games, that are very with reference to our hearts and something we rise up for. Team17 is home to an excellent digital publishing team who’ve topped every digital chart from PC, console and mobile over the past couple of years. Most significantly, Team17 make games in addition and know first-hand just what it takes to make a game and take it to market correctly across all platforms.

Team17 already has one game on its publishing roster, and indie title called Light. The sport is a top-down 2D game starring a square which will sneak around levels, quietly take out guards, and hack terminals. As per its name, Light plays around with light rather a lot, using the square’s sight view to gradually reveal more of every level. The sport is currently up for voting on Steam Greenlight.
