Gamers, otaku, nerds, and general fanatics have all gathered in solidarity for the mecca of geekdom that’s San Diego Comic Con, which started on Thursday and should continue in to Sunday. One of many panels, musicians, cosplayers, and other attractions that attract such a lot of fans yearly, an engaging proposition has risen from Namco Bandai; the corporate, together with Andrew Hussie, can be making a dating sim.
For people who are unfamiliar with the term, a dating sim refers to a kind of visual novel where the goal of gameplay is usually to pursue a romantic relationship with a designated character. Players can usually select from multiple characters to court, and games range from a number of scenarios and maturity ratings. A majority of these games are incredibly popular in Japan.
Namco Bandai, the publishers of such game franchises because the Tales of…, Tekken, and Soulcaliber series, announced on Monday in an announcement shown at Comic Con that they might be making a dating sim called “Namco High” with the aid of Andrew Hussie, the mastermind behind the ingenious, incredibly popular web comic, “Homestuck.”
The game would be a mash-up of multiple Namco Bandai universes, and could occur in a “high school only for online game characters.” The dating sim would be browser-based, taking into account “cross-platform enjoyment… despite device.” What Pumpkin studios and ShiftyLook also are enthusiastic about the game’s process, and appear desperate to be part of its creation. George Rohac, director of commercial development at What Pumpkin Studios, was quoted as saying, “We are highly anticipating its release.”
Speaking at the addition of Andrew Hussie to the team, Rob Pereyda, ShiftyLook’s producer and editor-in-chief said, “There isn’t any creator with more of a colourful originality at present than Andrew Hussie… We’re beyond excited to look where he’s taking these characters and the original relationships so as to literally unfold between them.” Fans of Homestuck are surely desirous to see what Hussie will do with these characters, to boot, especially given the creator’s track record with character deaths.
“Namco High” might be released in 2013 before the vacation season begins on ShiftyLook.com.
