Deus Ex: The autumn Out For iPhone, iPad

Posted on July 18, 2013 at 7:19 am

Deus Ex: The autumn is officially out for iOS platforms. The sport is an offshoot of the 2011 game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It’s also probably the most ambitious mobile games yet released, trying to bring the experience of a console stealth/shooter to the small screen.

Rather than follow Human Revolution protagonist Adam Jensen, the sport follows a British mercenary named Ben Saxon as he investigates a world drug conspiracy. Though the controls for the sport were adapted for a splash screen, The autumn seems to be just almost like its PC and console predecessors.

The Fall sells for $6.99/£4.99/€5.99 in Apple’s App Store. The sport will run on iPhone 4S and newer iPhones, 3rd-generation iPads and newer iPads, and at the latest generation of iPod Touch devices.

As seen within the launch trailer below, the graphics within the Fall don’t come near those of the great-looking Human Revolution. However, much of the gameplay Deus Ex fans love does appear to have made it into the mobile game.

BioWare Releases SWTOR Update, Celebrates KOTOR’s 10th Anniversary

Posted on July 17, 2013 at 1:10 pm

Developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts released update 2.2.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic today. The update features Nightmare Mode Operation: Legions of Scum and Villainy, the second one of 2 parts to SWTOR’s Operation Nightmare.

Scum and Villainy primarily faces players against the Hutt cartel. In-game rewards included with the update are a brand new Titan 6 Containment mode and the elite Kell Dragon gear set.

The update falls ahead of the 10th anniversary of BioWare’s 2003 game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. To celebrate this milestone, EA and BioWare are giving the community some goodies next week. SWTOR players should purchase the title “Revan’s Heir” from the cartel marketplace for 10 cartel coins on July 15. Cartel coins can also be given away throughout that day at the official SWTOR Facebook page. Lastly, BioWare creative director James Ohlen will release a blog post on July 15 that discusses KOTOR and its influence at the Old Republic.

Rovio to Release Hidden-Object/Puzzle Game July 11

Posted on July 17, 2013 at 7:47 am

Rovio, the developer behind the Angry Birds series, today announced that it’ll publish a game called Tiny thief on Thursday, July 11. The sport, the second one to come back out under the publisher’s ‘Rovio Stars’ label, should be available for both iOS and Android.

Rovio Stars is Rovio’s initiative to publish third-party titles on mobile platforms. It’s a tacit acknowledgement that a single mobile developer cannot stay innovative enough on its own to dominate mobile gaming, and that the recognition of the Angry Birds franchise might not last forever. The 1st game released under the label was Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage.

In contrast to Icebreaker’s physics-based action gameplay, Tiny Thief is a more laid-back hidden object and puzzle-solving game. The sport is decided in a medieval world crammed with offbeat characters and humorous events. The effect, as seen within the trailer below, is a game that seems kind of like classic point-and-click adventure games equivalent to Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island, which might seem an ideal fit for touch-based mobile gaming.

Ubisoft Shows Off Pirate Gameplay In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Posted on July 16, 2013 at 7:25 am

Assassin’s Creed III introduced plenty of elements to the franchise that mostly garnered a powerful “meh” from gamers, but most can agree that its introduction of ship battles was definitely the highlight. That enthusiasm for naval combat could have been the explanation Ubisoft turned to pirates during this year’s title.

Today, Ubisoft released a brand new trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag that shows off the game’s pirate gameplay and naval combat. Like several good pirate, players will spend lots of their free time hunting treasure that they find on maps. A few of the treasure which you find may also help you upgrade your ship to tackle the tougher naval challenges.

Some people will claim that they’re becoming bored with Assassin’s Creed, and that’s a legitimate argument. Others argue that pirate games are passé, but that one’s a bit of harder to defend. It’s rare that we get a pirate game, not to mention an outstanding one; and Assassin’s Creed IV is calling to be a very good pirate game.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will launch on October 29 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U. It’ll even be a launch title for the Xbox One and PS4.

  • Detour: A destroyed suspension bridge high above an East Coast waterway, jam-packed with scattered vehicles, exposed iron, and collapsed pavement where the pinnacle-to-head action will play out on multiple levels.

  • Rush: Prepare for instant, close-quarters engagements during this paintball course turned full-combat arena, giving players new opportunities and challenges to take advantage of the quilt to their advantage.

  • Uplink:  In this re-imagined adaptation of the fan-favorite multiplayer map “Summit” from the unique Call of Duty: Black Ops, players clash deep within the rain-soaked jungles of Myanmar, high atop a hi-tech mountain facility.

Amazon Is Sold Out Of PS4, Xbox One Launch Units

Posted on July 15, 2013 at 11:50 am

Just yesterday, GameStop announced that it had completely sold out of its initial allotment of PS4 units. Now another retailer has announced a similar.

Amazon announced today via its Games Facebook page that it has completely sold out of its initial allotment of PS4 and Xbox One launch units. Because the retailer notes, it only took them a month to sell throughout the launch unit preorders:

After a crazy and exciting month, we’ve sold through our initial allocations of PS4 and Xbox One. Thanks to all who’ve ordered and shared your opinions. We’ve got the everyday Editions for both consoles still available, but we can’t guarantee these at release. Please check back here as we’ll update you first if we receive further release day allocations.

What Amazon didn’t say is that it has sold out of its dearer launch day bundles in addition. The sell through rate of those bundle only further cements that the hype for next-gen consoles is incredibly high, and should remain so within the end of the year.

Amazon may well be sold out of both the PS4 and the Xbox One, but GameStop still has the Xbox Sooner or later One Edition available for preorder. There’s no make sure that will probably be available much longer, however, so that you better preorder now when you have your heart set on an Xbox One this holiday season.

Sony Confirms That Digital PS4 Games Can be Accessible From Any Console

Posted on July 14, 2013 at 1:21 pm

Speaking on the Develop conference in Brighton, England, this week, Sony’s senior research & development leader Neil Brown confirmed that PlayStation 4 players can have full access to their digital games from other PS4 consoles. “You can visit your friend’s house, you may log into your account, and [you might] play any game out of your digital library,” he told attendees.

Brown also gave some further insight on the conference into the PS4’s “play as you download” function:

“A similar system also works on Blu-ray, [whereby] chunks are automatically copied to the hard disk drive within the background. Which means after the primary short time, your game can depend upon having faster read speeds from the hard disk. [This] provides a greater experience for players and is an entirely background process for the player. They don’t need to await anything to put in before playing the sport. The sport will launch once the disk have been installed the drive.”

China to finish Game Console Ban, With a Catch

Posted on July 14, 2013 at 8:38 am

For 13 years, China has officially banned the sale of online game consoles in its country. Now, a brand new Chinese economic plan reveals that the ban may soon come to an end – but with a catch.

The South China Morning Post today reported that a policy blueprint for a “Shanghai free trade zone” would allow for the sale of online game consoles, so long as foreign hardware companies (inclusive of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft) manufacture the consoles throughout the new free trade zone. The plan reportedly has the backing of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who’s looking to open China to more foreign business investments.

Console manufacturers will need the approval of the Chinese culture ministry to sell their products, meaning strict content censorship (stricter than Australia, even) is normally implemented. The key reason cited for the unique ban was the violence and political content seen in mainstream games.

The end of China’s official console ban could dead an enormous blow to the big black market that has sprung up inside the country around games. China is definitely-referred to as a primary consumer of pirated games and online game consoles. Though the report quotes a Sony official as saying the Japanese company would not yet have a plan for selling PlayStation consoles in China, the top of Microsoft’s Greater China region, Ralph Haupter, was quoted as saying that Microsoft is addressing legal barriers to an Xbox One launch in China.
