Sony Details Knack’s Co-Op Mode, Social Features
Posted on April 3, 2014 at 5:06 am
Mark Cerny played a helping hand in designing many of the most precious and beloved platformers of the mid-90s, like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Because of the limitations of these consoles, however, they couldn’t provide a co-op experience. That’s all going to modify with Cerny’s PS4 launch game – Knack.
Sony announced today that Knack, like such a lot of other character driven platformers today, may have a co-op mode. Similar to in those games, Knack will feature drop in and drop out co-op so your pals and family can take part the action without interrupting it. That’s where the similarities end though.
The co-op characters in Knack – called Robo Knack – plays much just like the regular Knack. He’s a bit different though in that he can donate parts to and heal Knack with a press of the triangle button. In a feeling, Robo Knack could be the character that the more matured gamer will play as to assist the fewer experienced player.
Here’s a trailer showing the co-op mode in action:
Aside from the co-op mode, Sony also revealed a social element to Knack’s collect-a-thon gameplay. At certain points within the game, the players will find secret chests containing items which might be combined to create gadgets. Upon finding this kind of chests, the player can either take the article that was present in the chest, or the object that a pal present in the identical chest. Here’s the entire explanation:
Finding these secret rooms and collecting gadget parts and Relics is fun, but it’s much more fun when you’ve got friends playing the sport besides. Everytime you discover a secret chest, you’ll manage to either take the object you present in the chest, or choose any item a pal present in that very same room the last time they played. This may really turn out to be useful when you’re looking to complete those gadgets or unlock that last Knack variant. Your gadget collection even carries over to new playthroughs, so that you can work on getting all eight handy gadgets.
Finally, Sony shared more details regarding that Knack mobile game that we reported on yesterday. In brief, it’s an easy match-three puzzle game for iOS that permits players to win items which might be transferred over to the console game. While the sport is currently only available for iOS, Sony confirmed within the blog post that an Android version is coming soon.

PlayStation 4 Video Streaming Apps Officially Announced
Posted on April 1, 2014 at 2:49 pm
Throughout the past eight years, the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles have slowly become greater than game machines. Each console now has access to quite a lot of streaming video and other apps that expand their functionality beyond household gamers. The PlayStation 3 even managed to become probably the most-used Netflix streaming device last year.
With the subsequent console generation only weeks away, consumers are actually expecting the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to have streaming video apps from day one. Though Microsoft has certainly let it’s known that TV is a focal point for the Xbox One, Sony was specializing in gamer nostalgia for its PlayStation 4 campaign.
Today, with the launch of the PlayStation 4 only eight days away, Sony has finally revealed what streaming video apps its new console can have available at launch.
Unsurprisingly, the most well liked streaming video apps will all be at the PS4 day-one. Netflix and Hulu Plus would be available, as will Amazon Instant Video or even Redbox Instant. Streaming sports can even make an appearance with the NBA Game Time and NHL GameCenter Live apps, which also require subscriptions to apply. People with access to the EPIX channel may also enjoy that channel’s programming on a PS4 and the VUDU streaming video store can also be available.
Beyond the most obvious apps, the PS4 can even have several niche video streaming apps. Sony’s Crackle is a given, however the Crunchyroll app will come as a pleasant surprise for fans of Anime programming. Also, the YuppTV app should be available, providing access to over 150 Indian TV channels and hundreds of Indian movies.

‘Grand Theft Auto Online’ Stimulus Package Rolling Out Now
Posted on March 31, 2014 at 2:08 pm
A little over per week after Grand Theft Auto Online launched, it became clear to developer Rockstar that it had bitten off way over it might chew. The launch of Grand Theft Auto V‘s multiplayer component was plagued with clogged servers and glitches from the instant it went live, and in mid-October Rockstar promised players $500,000 of free in-game cash as an incentive to stay around while the sport was being fixed.
After over a month of players complaining of lost cash, progress, and characters, Rockstar earlier this week released a patch for GTA Online that has supposedly gotten the sport in working order. With that out of ways, the developer has finally made good on its “stimulus package” promise.
The first $500,000 deposits have now begun rolling out to in-game player bank accounts. Any GTA Online player who played the sport during October is eligible for the cash. Rockstar predicts that it’s going to soak up to 2 days for all players to receive their cash.
The stimulus package should be seen as Rockstar’s apology for the failings that plagued GTA Online during its launch month. Over on its newswire, Rockstar thanked the GTA fans which have stuck with the sport through its messy launch:
Thanks exit to everyone for his or her continued patience and understanding while we worked through these issues, and we can’t wait to bring more into the area of GTA Online. On that note, stay tuned for more details at the Beach Bum update soon in addition to upcoming Social Club event announcements and more here on the Newswire.
The “Beach Bum” update is anticipated to hit GTA Online sometime this month.

Ryse: Son Of Rome Gets Three New Gameplay Trailers
Posted on March 30, 2014 at 2:53 pm
If you’re getting an Xbox One on November 22, likelihood is you’re also picking up Ryse: Son of Rome. The Crytek developed game was incessantly pushed by Microsoft ever because it was revealed to be a launch title at E3 2013. You will be getting cold feet now though, and would really like it if Microsoft would supply you with just a bit more incentive.
If you’re still having trouble deciding in the event you should pick up Ryse, three gameplay videos emerged yesterday showing three different sections of the sport. These videos should offer you a good idea of what to anticipate from the third person action game:
While it’s certainly no God of War, Ryse: Son of Rome looks to be the type of mindless action game that can assist you pass a couple of days. The sport may also feature a multiplayer mode to maintain players engaged long after the campaign ends. That’s a minimum of what Microsoft would need you to believe as it’s already planning a season pass for the title.

Sony Unboxes PlayStation 4, Provides An Internal Look
Posted on March 29, 2014 at 3:54 pm
As PlayStation 4s start showing up in store warehouses, it helps bring the belief a higher generation consoles are upon right into a tangible reality. In a fewbout a week, the area as we all know it’ll change forever when the PS4 becomes available for consumption; no less than, that’s the crux of the pitches we’ve been getting. As Sony and Microsoft fight for control of the lounge, we, the patrons, are perceived as winners, provided that we don’t mind dealing with a dear upgrade/changeover.
Because anticipation of those new gadgets reaches a fever pitch, unboxing videos became something. A lot so, in reality, they’re used as marketing pitches. Judging by the numbers, it’s pretty clear people enjoy watching videos of different people opening their new stuff. Which leads us to Wired.com’s exclusive PS4 unboxing video. If people actually need to observe these items, taking the next move and offering an exclusive video, complete with Wired’s logo and watermark, is a shrewd strategy to grab about a more pageviews.
It also helps when the unboxing video goes above and beyond the norm by having a Sony engineer crack the PlayStation 4 case open, giving us a glance on the console’s internal workings. Take a look at Wired’s video and spot what you watched:
Incredibly exciting, no? Sarcasm aside, if nothing else, it’s impressive seeing just how much tech Sony can cram right into a plastic case; and hey, there’s no Spider-Man font distracting us from the clinical autopsy. That should be a plus, right? In case you’ve been living under a rock and missed the inside track, the PS4 would be available on November 15.

Kinect Will have Just Proven Its Worth Today
Posted on March 28, 2014 at 8:19 am
Every Xbox One will ship with a Kinect. It’s a undeniable fact that can’t be avoided and has made some people angry. Some are angry over the increased price ticket of $500 while others are angry about potential privacy violations. Either one of those people can now shut up though because the Kinect has just earned its rightful place on your entertainment center.
A few months ago, Microsoft said that the Kinect could recognize the code at the back of an Xbox Live pre-paid card and immediately redeem it for you. It seemed type of silly on the time, but wait until you spot it in action. It actually has me excited:
As the Vine indicates, the full process takes lower than six seconds. Not more will you should installed a string of silly numbers that takes minutes. Now you only simply delay a card in front of you and Kinect looks after all of the rest.
This is next generation stuff, folks. All those fancy graphics and cloud servers are old hat. Kinect reading QR codes for pre-paid Xbox Live cards is the longer term, and that i want it now. Actually, Sony should be scared witless and are engaged on their very own pre-paid PSN cards which might be read by the optional PS camera.
