Sony Expects to Sell 3 Million PS4s Before January

Posted on May 3, 2014 at 10:46 am

With only three days to move before the launch of the PlayStation 4 console, Sony is confident in both its product and its manufacturing process.

Bloomberg this week reported that Sony expects to sell at the very least 3 million PlayStation 4′s by the top of 2013. The report cites Sony Computer Entertainment of America CEO Jack Tretton as going even further, stating that the corporate will sell at lease 5 million PlayStation 4′s by March 2014 and that Sony is “very confident” and “in great shape.”

When building an install base for a next-generation console, manufacturing processes are nearly as important as games and marketing. Sony’s PlayStation 3 console was expensive and in brief supply when it launched in 2006, allowing Microsoft to realize traction in markets resembling North America and the united kingdom.

This time around, Sony seems to have its production schedule so as. The Bloomberg report states that the corporate is seeing higher yields for the PlayStation 4 in comparison to the PlayStation 3 and that production began early enough to rule out any last-minute emergency production. Tretton is quoted as saying PlayStation 4 production was “…very, very smooth.”

Microsoft has not provided its projection for sales of its upcoming Xbox One console. There are signs, though, that the corporate isn’t quite as confident as Sony. Along with rumors of producing difficulties, Microsoft delayed the launch of the Xbox one until 2014 for eight countries that were expected to have it in November. The company’s early pre-order marketing efforts also stumbled over the console’s originally-planned DRM scheme, which has since been eliminated.

Here’s How Multitasking Works At the Xbox One

Posted on May 1, 2014 at 1:01 pm

With Windows 8, Microsoft introduced a brand new method to multitask called Snap. In brief, you may have two apps running simultaneously straight away when you could choose which app got to absorb more of the screen. Because the Xbox One’s OS is predicated heavily on Windows 8, an identical functionality is present at the console besides. That’s all well and good, but how does it work on a game console?

In a brand new video released today, Yusuf Mehdi from the Xbox team shows off Snap for the Xbox One. While playing games, you need to use Kinect to assert “Xbox Snap” after which say the name of the app it’s good to launch. The sport will pause and an aspect window will open with the app you requested. From there, you could return to the sport with the side window still open. The instance below shows Mehdi playing Forza Motorsport 5 while watching ESPN within the Snap window.

With Snap, Microsoft could have an exceptionally unique feature on its hands that helps the Xbox One to distinguish itself from the PS4. I can’t imagine playing a game while watching TV concurrently, but using Internet Explorer in a Snap window to seem up a game guide while playing a game could prove useful.

So, what concerning the PS4? While it doesn’t feature multitasking at the same level because the Xbox One, it does have its own enhancements. In step with Engadget, you could pause your game, open up another app after which return to the sport by simply double-tapping the PS Home button. Doing so will immediately take you back to the last open app. This may be used to leap between any two active applications. It’s not as nice as Snap, but PlayStation fans will surely appreciate it after years of coping with the PS3′s utter loss of multitasking capabilities.

Posted on April 30, 2014 at 12:42 pm

The team at Guerilla Games have crafted what looks to be the most effective looking next-gen launch title, and it looks super fun to play in addition. Now after months of seeing the sport in action, Sony has two final trailers for us before the sport launches with the PS4 this Friday.

The first trailer is your usual launch trailer that shows bits of story and gameplay to get players hyped for the one player campaign. For Killzone fans, it’s pretty exciting to peer a game set after the events of the outstanding Killzone 3. For everyone else, its campaign looks to be more fun than the campaigns present in Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4.

The other trailer focuses exclusively at the tech utilized in the most recent Killzone title. That is the trailer for those that are more interested by the technical side of game development, or for those that wish to mindlessly argue about which console is healthier on the web. It’s more fun when viewed in the course of the eyes of the previous.

Killzone: Shadow Fall launches November 15 alongside the PS4. It is going to be noted that some retail locations are already carrying the sport, but what’s the purpose of purchasing a game which you can’t play, right?

‘Assassin’s Creed IV’ Mobile App Released

Posted on April 29, 2014 at 9:52 am

The trend for major game releases during the last two years have been to pre-sell gamers on DLC with season pass bundles. Those bundles are actually expected and publishers have moved on ton the following trend: the so-called second screen experience.

Mobile apps that tie-in with big games are nothing new, but publishers this year have begun releasing more of them or even ones which could significantly affect gameplay. Ubisoft’s upcoming The Division appears to be like tailored around a mobile app by which players can interact with the sport world others are experiencing on their consoles. Even Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V had a “iFruit” app which could affect in-game customization options.

Today, Ubisoft released its mobile app for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The app is offered through Apple’s App Store for iPads and during Google Play for Android tablets.

The app incorporates a full map of the sport, allowing players to peer objectives and mark waypoints. It also allows gamers to send their fleet of ships on missions while clear of the primary game, letting them grind for cargo and money all day long. Moreover those interactive elements, various game stats, unlocks, and treasure maps should be viewed during the tablet apps.

Ubisoft has released a video detailing all of those features and showing the way it will quickly sync with what’s happening within the real game:

‘Dead Rising 3′ Story Trailer Released

Posted on April 28, 2014 at 1:36 pm

There are lower than two weeks left before the discharge of the Xbox One, and Capcom’s Dead Rising 3 looks to be among the many better exclusive launch titles coming for that console.

Capcom has done an attractive nice job of installation Dead Rising 3 for the subsequent-gen transition. The Dead Rising series has always had its fans, though the sports have never been wildly popular. By making Dead Rising 3 a next-gen launch title and an Xbox One exclusive, more gamers than normal might buy the game to have something fun and lightweight-hearted to play.

Speaking of fun, Capcom has also done an excellent job of marketing Dead Rising 3 as silly and fun, following its relatively dry announcement during Microsoft’s E3 press conference. That’s left little time for the publisher to disclose the game’s story, but today marks the discharge of the game’s first story trailer.

Based at the video, the tale in Dead Rising 3 mostly involves mechanic Mick Ramos attempting to escape a zombified city while facing panicked non-zombie people and a small injury (that seems a little bit a spoiler). The characters and situations certainly look larger-than-life and a chunk ridiculous – but that’s to be expected from a Capcom game.

What If The Pirates Of Assassin’s Creed IV Were Tailors Instead?

Posted on April 26, 2014 at 7:42 am

Last week, Sony UK teased something Street Fighter related for the PS4 as component of its #4ThePlayers campaign. While we still don’t know what’s up with that, Sony has released another video with intentions which are far easier to discern.

The latest #4ThePlayers promo features E. Kenway & Sons Bespoke Tailors – a clothes shop based heavily on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. As we already find out about Black Flag coming to the PS4, this promo doesn’t have a similar air of secrecy surrounding it. It’s only a fun reimagining of the characters and themes from the newest Assassin’s Creed title.

But wait, what if Sony is teasing something more? Perhaps an Assassin’s Creed clothing line? Maybe some exclusive DLC where Edward Kenway gives up pirating and becomes an honorable tailor? Those folks who love online game fashion would do anything for the latter, but Ubisoft probably has no plans to entice a brilliant niche market in a single of its biggest franchises.

Speaking of DLC though, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will feature exclusive content that makes a speciality of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation protagonist Aveline. Afterward down the street, the sport will also receive a DLC spin-off called Freedom Cry! that specializes in Kenway’s quartermaster – Adewale. Freedom Cry! could be available on all platforms.

Here’s What Diablo III Looks as if At the PS4

Posted on April 25, 2014 at 12:57 pm

Earlier this year, Blizzard Entertainment finally got back into the console business with Diablo III at the PS3 and Xbox 360. Many felt that Diablo III on consoles was the definitive version so far as gameplay was concerned, but those consoles couldn’t properly recreate the visual experience that the computer version offers. With next gen consoles, that’s now entirely possible.

Over the weekend, Blizzard showed off Diablo III running at the PlayStation 4, and it looks just nearly as good because the PC version does. It also shows off some gameplay from the brand new Diablo III expansion – Reaper of Souls – in an effort to be available on PS4 and PC.

With improved visuals and the gameplay enhancements seen within the earlier console versions, Diablo III at the PS4 could be the definitive version of Blizzard’s action RPG.

There’s no word yet on even if Diablo III will make its thanks to the Xbox One at some point. Right now, it sounds as if to be a next-gen exclusive on Sony’s machine, but it’s hard to visualize that it’s going to stay that way for long.

Oh, and while you’re at it, look at Blizzard’s other trailer for Reaper of Souls that details a number of the new features present in the growth:
