Today Sony officially launched its PlayStation 4 console. Gamers in countries the world over today would be switching on their new consoles and playing launch titles comparable to Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, and Resogun.

The PS4 represents Sony’s attempt at luring gamers back to its consoles after Microsoft’s Xbox 360 managed to challenge its console market dominance. Because the PS4′s reveal in February, Sony was playing on gamer nostalgia with ads reminding gamers of the times of the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The corporate also focused almost exclusively on gaming – a special strategy from Microsoft, that’s targeting a broader segment of customers with TV features.

That marketing tactic held through last night, when Sony held a televised, hour-long launch event on the Standard hotel in The big apple. The development, which might be seen in its entirety below, was filled with game previews, developer interviews, or even a couple of reveals for exclusive PS4 content. A few of the highlights include the Infamous: Second Son release date, an PS4-exclusive Metal Gear Solid V mission, and the reveal of a brand new Uncharted game for PS4.
