Raptr and Twitch.tv have today announced a brand new partnership. Starting today, people with a free Raptr account and Twitch channel could be ready to use Raptr’s desktop app for game streaming.

This will make it easier and cheaper to stream content via PC. Other mechanisms for streaming to Twitch typically require a purchase order or subscription. Raptr’s desktop app is free, as are accounts at the website.

In addition to this new function, Raptr tracks game time, achievements and trophies, offers instant messenger-style chat, and Facebook and Twitter sharing. The Raptr desktop app can also be downloaded here. For an educational on how this works, see the video below.

Our Take
PC owners typically should invest in XSplit or other streaming programs that allows you to share their gaming with the realm. This new partnership will absolute confidence increase the quantity of content pushed to Twitch by taking down among the remaining financial and implementation barriers.

I haven’t tried streaming to Twitch via Raptr and cannot speak to how robust the configuration options are. Regardless, for those trying to dip a toe within the live streaming waters, a free option is optimal.

For me, it is a painful reminder that Raptr abandoned its Mac app.
