Video game comic books are starting to become quite the fad. Even unproven games akin to Ryse: Son of Rome are becoming their very own comics before they’re even released.
Today, though, Dark Horse Comics announced probably the most appropriate gaming comics in recent memory. The Witcher series may be serialized by the publisher in what it describes as a “character-driven, non-linear story set in a gritty and living world.” Though Dark Horse states the comics could be in accordance with the RPGs, The tale of The Witcher games was originally taken from a chain of Polish fantasy novels, making its adaptation back to print less odd.
“We’re more than pleased to be working with Dark Horse Comics, that’s among the many biggest and finest comic book publishing houses on the earth,” said Adam Badowski, studio head at CD Projekt RED, the developer behind The Witcher games. “What makes it much more exciting is the truth that, for a lot of people, the Dark Horse logo has near legendary status, standing for traditional characters resembling Hellboy or Usagi Yojimbo. We’re more than happy to be over again expanding The Witcher universe,”
The first issue of Witcher is scheduled for release on March 19, 2014. The comics would be adapted by Paul Tobin, who won an Eisner Award this year for Best Digital Comic for his work on Bandette.
