Xbox Fitness Coming To Xbox One This Holiday Season

Posted on October 6, 2013 at 7:16 am

On November 1, Nintendo will jump back into the fitness gaming category it helped create with Wii Fit U. Later this year, Microsoft could be throwing its hat into the hoop with an identical app for Xbox One.

On Friday, Microsoft announced a brand new Xbox One app called Xbox Fitness a good way to be launching this holiday season. Unlike Nintendo’s game that utilizes a virtual trainer and the Wii balance board, Xbox Fitness will use real trainers alongside Kinect to assist people get into shape.

Check it out:

“What makes Xbox Fitness so innovative is the feedback it can provide,” says Insanity’s Shaun T. “The Kinect sensor can evaluate your form, tell how high you’re jumping, how hard you’re punching or even read your heart rate. It’s that little missing piece of validation that hasn’t been possible for home fitness products before. Xbox Fitness completes the puzzle.”

Alongside its exercise programs, Xbox Fitness acts as an individual trainer. This will create personalized workout programs for every user in response to their history and past performance. This will also accommodate any schedule with workouts that last anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes.

Xbox Fitness can even include Xbox Live integration within the variety of online challenges, leaderboards and other methods that you can compare your performance with that of your pals.

Speaking of Xbox Live, Xbox Fitness might be free to all Xbox Live Gold members until December 2014. Microsoft doesn’t explicitly say it should start charging separately for the service at that time, but it’s heavily implied. Meaning you’ll desire to take full benefit of Xbox Fitness when it launches this holiday season.

Battlefield 4 Can have 10 Multiplayer Maps At Launch

Posted on October 5, 2013 at 7:03 am

Map variety might be probably the most important aspects of any multiplayer shooter. Sure, gameplay still reigns supreme, but a limited choice of maps would be sure things get boring very fast. That’s why it’s reassuring to be informed that DICE is launching Battlefield 4 with a variety of maps.

On Friday, DICE announced that Battlefield 4 could have 10 multiplayer maps when it ships on October 29. That’s already loads of maps, but it’s much more impressive should you take the scale of Battlefield maps into account. These are maps intended for 64 players on PC and next-gen consoles. It’s going to take players weeks, if not months, in finding your complete hidden nooks and crannies in such large maps.

As a part of the announcement, DICE announced the general map – Zavod 311 – and released a listing of the ten maps players could have access to at launch.

Starting with the brand new map, DICE says that Zavod 311 is determined in a Soviet tank factory from the Cold War era that have been overrun with foliage. What makes the map interesting is that it contains an undetonated warhead which might be activated to destroy a part of the map to open up new areas.

Here’s the primary image of the map (courtesy of the Battlefield blog):

As for the remainder, here’s all 10 maps which may be available at launch:

  • Siege of Shanghai
  • Paracel Storm
  • Zavod 311
  • Lancang Dam
  • Flood Zone
  • Rogue Transmission
  • Hainan Resort
  • Dawnbreaker
  • Operation Locker
  • Golmud Railway
  • Of course, more maps would be added to the sport over the process its lifetime. EA and DICE have already announced Battlefield 4 Premium – a season pass that may net you every of the game’s planned DLC expansions two weeks before they launch for everyone else.

    Weekend Warrior 09/27/13

Posted on October 5, 2013 at 6:51 am

Event thought a number of us had been playing it for weeks, a number of us are still lost in Los Santos. a number of other are grinding through some older classics and other recent releases like Rayman Legends.

Katie Seville: I’m going to aim and finish Bioshock 1 this weekend, and hopefully make a last decision on whether to get Pokemon X or Y.

Tim Turi: Everything have been shelved for Grand Theft Auto V. I’m enjoying the hell out of the sport to date, in conjunction with the remainder of the gaming world. On top of that i could dig into a few of the Famicom games I picked up in Japan or test some Angry Game Nerd Adventures.

Mike Trinh: Like the majority, I’ll be making my way through GTA V. Excited for the reunion between Trevor and Michael. I’ll even be playing a bit of of the flash game Cookie Clicker.

Isaac Perry: Where will I be stocked? I’m out of town this weekend, but i’d boot up my laptop long enough to play a couple of hours of Knights of Pen and Paper and Rayman Legends. Also, looking into Shadow Warrior. May well be my style of ridiculous.

Matt Kato: i will be playing Grand Theft Auto V – not really a ton of side missions, but you never know what sort of stuff that game will pull you into. I’m also going to be playing a heavy does of FIFA 14. I’ve started both the Seasons Mode and the career (Notts Forest), so there’ll be plenty to maintain me busy.

Jeff Marchiafava: Like everyone else, I’ll be playing more GTA V. It’s gotten to the purpose where the sport has now invaded my real life; I instantly consider the sport whenever i am getting stuck behind a motorist who doesn’t know what they’re doing (if you’re lost just pull over and examine a frickin’ map already!), and I’ve started going into hysterical rages whenever i believe someone is alluding to my nonexistent Canadian accent.

Andrew Reiner: If the celebs align, I’m powering my way through as much of Grand Theft Auto V as i will. The hope is to complete its single player campaign before Grand Theft Auto Online hits. If I somehow have the ability to do that with any time to spare this weekend, I also may be able to finish Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Shadowrun Returns. I’m nearing the tip in either one of these titles.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I’m probably going to likely play some more Grand Theft Auto V. I’m sorry for boring you guys. i’m hoping to play more Rayman Legends besides, it’s a breath of unpolluted air after an excessive amount of of Rockstar’s world.

Kyle Hilliard: My game time will in all likelihood be absorbed by Grand Theft Auto V, but when not that, I’ll be engaged on a review game. Otherwise, I’ll watch the brand new episode of Parks and Rec and take a look at to get some sleep. GTA V has kept me up late all week.

Watch The complete Second Season Of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Now

Posted on October 4, 2013 at 3:48 pm

Watched all of them yesterday. Well shot, decently written, competently acted and entirely lackluster.

The first couple of episodes are great, but it surely goes straight downhill from there. There’s little or no actual fighting, and what’s there lacks the brutality Mortal Kombat is understood for. It doesn’t help that the results are about as cheap-looking as they arrive and the designs for notable characters (Sub-Zero, Ermac) are terribly generic or simply downright bad.

It’s also at the short side, about 45 minutes total to burn through all 10 episodes. It appears like everything was shot in a couple of week, with an effective third of the season being flashbacks to the former season. Season one premiered in April of 2011, 2+ years looks as if an awful long term to for such little content.

Season One was much, far better in every regard.

Mighty No. 9 Adds 3DS And Vita Stretch Goals

Posted on October 3, 2013 at 10:19 am

The Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter only has a number of days to head, but that is not stopping the people at Comcept from attempting to squeeze in a single more stretch goal.

Currently, the Kickstarter has received $2,692,056 in pledges, but when it surpasses $3,500,000 inside the next three days, the sport may also be ported to Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation Vita.

Comcept also recently added a stretch goal for Mighty No. 9 to look on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One if it surpasses $3,300,000. The sport recently achieved its goal to seem on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 by surpassing $2,200,000.

For more on Mighty No. 9, you may try the 1st episode of the two Player Productions produced documentary covering the construction of the sport.

    [Source: Kickstarter]

    Our Take
Stretch goals could be tricky, but Comcept appears to be like requesting appropriately large sums of cash so that it will reach them. i used to be more than happy to peer the sport reach its console goal, as that was where i’m most occupied with playing the sport, but i believe i’d rather play the sport on a transportable given the option. i’m hoping it reaches the hand-held goal, but i’m not optimistic with only some days to move.

Odd-Looking Steam Controller Announced by Valve

Posted on October 2, 2013 at 7:11 am

On Monday, Valve announced SteamOS, a brand new PC operating system tuned specifically for gaming. It followed-up that announcement on Wednesday with the reveal of Steam Machines, new hardware from Valve and its partners that can profit from SteamOS. Today Valve revealed the general piece of its front room strategy: the Steam controller.

The controller itself is the oddest-looking online game controller to be revealed since Nintendo’s Wii controller. Rather than the joysticks which have become standard on modern controllers, the Steam controller has dual trackpads. In accordance with Valve, the gigantic, circular trackpads will allow for a far better input fidelity than joysticks. The trackpads also feature “super-precise” haptic feedback to supply players with physical context. The intention is to make traditionally PC-centric genres equivalent to real-time strategy a true possibility using a controller.

The second most noticeable oddity in regards to the Steam controller is button placement. In place of the standard four-button diamond formation for the suitable side of the controller, A, B, Y, and X buttons are put on the within edges of the touchpads. The four trigger buttons at the top of the controller look like fairly standard, however the device also has two large buttons on its rear side. There are a complete of 16 buttons at the Steam controller, with both trackpads and the heart touch screen clickable.

The touch screen just mentioned could have a high-resolution display. Developers can be capable of use the screen however they prefer, and touching the screen displays an overlay at the main gaming screen, allowing players to apply it without looking down.

The Steam controller was designed to work with Steam’s entire back-catalog of games. To complete this, Valve has created a “legacy mode” that enables controller buttons to be easily mapped to a normal keyboard. Moreover, Valve has stated that it’s going to release some form of tools to permit modders to open up the controller and hack around with it.

Posted on October 2, 2013 at 6:55 am

Nintendo has announced the provision of limited edition Pokémon X and Y themed 3DS XL hardware. If you need this sort of red or blue handhelds, you’d best move quickly.

The red or blue consoles feature the likenesses of legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal. Pokémon X and Y can be released on October 12, 2013 (complete with the unique three starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle).

Unlike previous special edition consoles, these two aren’t bundled with the sport. You will be waiting to choose those up for one more couple of weeks, similar to everyone else. The limited edition Pokémon X and Y 3DS XL systems will run you $199.99. For more on Pokémon X and Y, take a look at our preview from PAX 2013.

    Our Take
These are bound to become collector’s items. If you have been waiting to select up a 3DS XL (one in every of my favorite systems), now isn’t a foul time. In spite of the fact that you don’t have any interest in Pokémon, these limited edition handhelds aren’t a nasty investment.
