The united kingdom Got A Cooler Pokemon X/Y Ad Than Us

Posted on December 10, 2013 at 12:48 pm

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y hit retail tomorrow, and grown individuals world wide will hit up their local game shop to prove that Pokemon remains relevant to their lives. That’s not a foul thing, for sure, or even Nintendo helps prove it’s totally cool with a brand new TV spot for the united kingdom.

Much just like the U.S. TV spot for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, the united kingdom’s TV spot is live action. What sets them apart is that the UK got a method cooler spot than we did. Their spot has an exact trainer starting on his trainer with only a lowly Charmander and slowly progresses to the purpose where he has a team choked with premium Pokemon, including a Charizard.

It’s every child’s dream come true, however the real kicker is that the teacher isn’t a child – he’s an adult. It’s reflective of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y’s push to really have the franchise “grow up.” Not only from a gameplay perspective, but from a playable character perspective to boot. Gone are the questionable 10-year-old trainers as they’ve been replaced by late teens/teens.

Of course, all of this doesn’t mean that children are suddenly unimportant to Pokemon. Over the following few weeks, you’ll see that Pokemon remains to be a strong brand among children. It’s just that Nintendo could have finally realized that the Pokemon fans who grew up with the franchise since its beginning in 1998 are adults now, they usually deserve some representation too.

Saints Row IV Enter The Dominatrix DLC Dated

Posted on December 10, 2013 at 6:20 am

I just finished granding Saints Row 4 this weekend, so I’ll definitely jump in this when it comes out. Until then, i must finish Skyrim, play Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and check out to make a dent in my backlog before Batman: Arkham Origins hits. Needless to say, i need to do all of this while taking 19.5 credit hours, including an Engineering class that has up to now kicked my ass. This won’t happen…

Planning On Using An Existing Headset With A PS4? Read This

Posted on December 9, 2013 at 3:17 pm

Yesterday, we received a note from Astro Gaming (whom we’ve recently spoken with about next-gen audio) indicating that their headsets will work for chat at the PlayStation 4… just not instantaneously. This prompted us to dig a bit of deeper and discover what gaming headset owners can expect on November 15.

The answer we received from Sony is complicated. When you have a Sony-branded PULSE gaming headset (or the elite edition of that product), it is very important look forward to a system update coming sooner or later. It appears those is not going to work in any respect at launch.

Any other headset that will depend on bluetooth for chat cannot work in any respect. When you’ve got something that depends upon USB for chat (just like the Astro mixamps and Astro A50 wireless system), you’ll eventually be capable of use those. An update would be coming at some point.

Any headset that is dependent upon digital optical for game audio will continue to offer that out of the box. You only can not chat yet.

The situation is identical for the Xbox One. The connector at the controller is totally different, and until Microsoft delivers the adapter it has promised, you will not have the ability chat using legacy devices. Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will include a headset within the box, and there is always the choice to take advantage of the Kinect as a microphone (but when you’ve dogs or kids, please don’t).

Our Take
While it’s good that these headsets will eventually work, it is a shame that both platform holders won’t have the ability to support them at launch. Gaming headsets are significant investments that could cost hundreds of greenbacks.

I know that technology moves on and changes are required to enhance the whole experience. That does not make me any happier that my $300 headset won’t work with my new consoles instantaneously.

‘The Witcher’ Comic Books Coming Early Next Year

Posted on December 9, 2013 at 1:52 pm

Video game comic books are starting to become quite the fad. Even unproven games akin to Ryse: Son of Rome are becoming their very own comics before they’re even released.

Today, though, Dark Horse Comics announced probably the most appropriate gaming comics in recent memory. The Witcher series may be serialized by the publisher in what it describes as a “character-driven, non-linear story set in a gritty and living world.” Though Dark Horse states the comics could be in accordance with the RPGs, The tale of The Witcher games was originally taken from a chain of Polish fantasy novels, making its adaptation back to print less odd.

“We’re more than pleased to be working with Dark Horse Comics, that’s among the many biggest and finest comic book publishing houses on the earth,” said Adam Badowski, studio head at CD Projekt RED, the developer behind The Witcher games. “What makes it much more exciting is the truth that, for a lot of people, the Dark Horse logo has near legendary status, standing for traditional characters resembling Hellboy or Usagi Yojimbo. We’re more than happy to be over again expanding The Witcher universe,”

The first issue of Witcher is scheduled for release on March 19, 2014. The comics would be adapted by Paul Tobin, who won an Eisner Award this year for Best Digital Comic for his work on Bandette.

Double Fine’s Costume Quest Out On iOS Now Just In Time For Halloween

Posted on December 8, 2013 at 2:01 pm

Double Fine’s Costume Quest was originally conceived during Double Fine’s original Amnesia Fortnight. The corporate event is a two-week period in which everyone on staff stops what they’re doing, breaks into teams and creates a game concept. Now, you’ll play the charming RPG adventure to your iOS device.

Costume Quest will run on both iPhones and iPads, and it’ll run you simply $4.99. The Grubbins on Ice DLC is included inside the purchase price.

Our Take
Costume Quest is one in every of my favorite titles of the generation. No, that won’t an exaggeration. It’s cleverly designed, absolutely charming, and gives a bite-sized RPG experience which may easily be replayed. I’ve added it to my annual Halloween ritual, which contains Nightmare Before Christmas, the nice Pumpkin, and my homemade pumpkin chocolate chunk bread.

Valve Demos Its New Steam Controller

Posted on December 8, 2013 at 8:59 am

Earlier this month, Valve announced its intention to go into the hardware market with Steam Machines complete with Steam Controller. In the event you haven’t seen it yet, you have to really . It’s wild, and totally obtainable – similar to Valve.

Now, you’ll be wondering – how the hell do I play games with that thing? Well, Valve is here with a video demo that shows how the controller is utilized in a number of games. What you’ll first notice is that the controller’s gamepads may be configured on a case-by-case basis. In a primary-person game like Portal 2, both gamepads may be configured to behave like a mouse and keyboard. In a more PC-centric game like Civilization V, one trackpad is configured to behave as a mouse while the alternative is configured to behave as directional keys.

Like all other new controllers, everyone is going to be skeptical until their get their hands on it. PC gamers are going to be much more skeptical as no other controller in history has ever matched the precision of a mouse and keyboard for PC-centric games, like turn-based strategy titles. Valve obviously thinks they’ve finally reached that level of precision, but we won’t know without a doubt until next year when the primary Steam machines launch.

If it’s essential to test drive a Steam Machine and the hot Steam Controller sooner, be sure you get your name into the running for considered one of 300 Steam Machine prototypes. You will find out more about that here.

Lorule Is Hyrule’s Shadow Realm Within the Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Posted on December 7, 2013 at 8:57 am

One of the core gameplay components from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was the existence of the dark world. It was a twisted kind of Hyrule that reflected the evil heart of Ganon and his desires, and truly stood out as a defining feature for the early SNES title. Now the Hyrule from A Link to the Past is back at the 3DS, however the Dark World got a brand new, decidedly cheesier, name.

As was previously revealed, Link can develop into a chalk drawing and become a 2D figure at the walls of his surroundings. At certain areas, he can also travel in the course of the walls and are available out in another style of Hyrule called Lorule. (Get it?). This alternate world even has a princess named Hilda that appears like exactly like Zelda, except that she has black hair.

As for the remainder of the trailer, Nintendo lays the nostalgia on thick. The 3 magic pendants, now bearing the symbols of the 3 goddesses, make a comeback as Link removes the Master Sword from its resting place within the Lost Woods. It even uses a similar classic opening jingle from the SNES classic accompanied by a brand new orchestral opening song.

What’s new is that there seems to be a brand new villain this time around that bears no resemblance to Ganon or Ganondorf. On the time of A Link to the Past, Ganondorf had lost what remained of his humanity and entirely transformed into the pig creature everyone knows as Ganon. He was capable of invade Hyrule by possessing the wizard Agahnim so perhaps the brand new villain in A Link Between Worlds is in an identical situation.

Final Fantasy VI Coming To Mobile Devices This Winter

Posted on December 6, 2013 at 2:46 pm

Enhanced graphics? So it’s probably getting the FF5 treatment where the sprites would be drawn out rather than the blocky pixelation from SNES. i believe if I needed to choose, I’d stick to those SNES graphics though.

I’m glad 2, 3 and 5 released on phones, but having this on Wii already, i am not really compelled to purchase this version… But even as, now i will visit all my Candy Crush-obsessed friends and convince them to play a method better game on their phones.

Also the Kotaku article says Square is thinking about remaking VII for phones. On the way to probably be a center finger for some hardcore fans, but however, with the recent iPhones being 64-bit, perhaps that is not out of the question… if its 3D, that’s.

Borderlands 2 Declares Itself Game of the Year in New Video

Posted on December 6, 2013 at 10:38 am

We’re nearing the vacation season and publishers are starting to wring the previous couple of sales out of new big game releases. Already The Elder Scrolls Anthology and Dishonored: Game of the Year Edition are tempting collectors and gamers shrewd enough to attend a year to purchase games and their add-on content at a lower cost.

Now 2K Games and Gearbox have done an identical with Borderlands 2. The Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition was released this week enticing gamers with more loot than ever.

Sure, declaring a title “Game of the Year” in October is pretentious, but Gearbox has done an admirable job of supporting the sport for over 365 days now. The brand new collection includes a magnificent amount of content that was released post-launch, including all four DLC campaigns, both added character classes, and a complete host of skins, upgrades, and add-ons, including a “Golden Key.”

The new “Celebration” video for the self-declaration does an outstanding job of highlighting all of the best parts of Borderlands 2 and its DLC, while providing a piece more Claptrap Schadenfreude:
