Artist Imagines What Realistic Pokémon Might Appear to be
Posted on November 10, 2013 at 1:18 pm
We posted our review for the imminent X & Y today, or even though Pokémon have finally, officially moved into the third dimension, they don’t seem to be quite as impressive as this art.
Artist RJ Palmer was creating these very impressive realistic Pokémon for quite a while. You’ll find more of his collection on his blog, in addition to his DeviantArt page. He’s also collected most of his work right into a book which you’ll buy here, and place on a coffee table.
We reached out to Palmer to determine what kind of plans he has in store for the hot Pokémon of X & Y, and he says he has something within the works. He promises that we’ll see a Tyrantrum from him sooner or later, and he desires to draw one of the most Mega Evolutions. Palmer has a Feraligatr piece of art that he says may be done within the following couple of days, after which he’s going to move directly to Meganium, and the Legendary bird trio, Articuno, Zapdos, and Molters. We’ll you’ll want to link to Palmer’s new art when he posts it online.

See a Functioning Rapture in New BioShock DLC Clip
Posted on November 10, 2013 at 10:10 am
Though BioShock games can certainly be fun to play, the titles are lauded more for his or her story than their first-person-shooting. Both episodes of BioShock Infinite‘s Burial at Sea DLC, then, are far more anticipated than the already-released Clash within the Clouds.
The story DLC will take player back to Rapture, the setting of BioShock and BioShock 2. A teaser mockumentary released last week shows that the characters may play just as big of an element in Rapture as they did in Columbia.
Irrational and 2K today released a five-minute, un-cut have a look at the start of the primary episode of the DLC. It shows an alternative-universe Booker as he’s approached by the sultry alternate-universe Elizabeth. She leads him on a brief tour of a pre-disaster Rapture, complete with bystanders throwing out Randian quips. On close inspection, however, not everything seems perfect and it becomes clear that Burial at Sea might just detail how Rapture fell inside the first place.

‘Amnesia’ Makers Continue to Tease Sci-Fi Game
Posted on November 9, 2013 at 3:05 pm
Last week Frictional Games, the makers of the Amnesia horror games, post a brand new teaser website for what’s, presumably, the studio’s next game. The location and a live-action teaser trailer show what seems to be a brand new sci-fi game that comes with artificial intelligence someway. Today, Frictional released another teaser for Soma during the website.
Like the former video, this one can be live-action. It stars the similar red-headed researcher from the former trailer, spoke of within the website text as AM Engineer Imogen Reed. She sits down for an interview with a partially self-disassembled machine lying on a workroom floow. The machine, called “Mockingbird” within the site text, argues with Reed and refers to itself as Adam Golaski. Then the human Golaski shows up.
Two videos in and there’s still little to move directly to determine what Soma may be about. Still, there are clues. As well as the obviously spooky nature of the AI within the videos, the nature within the videos is called “AM Engineer.” AM is the designation of a synthetic intelligence in a famous Harlan Ellison short story called I actually have No Mouth, and that i Must Scream. If there’s a connection and the name seriously is not simply an homage, it might mean that Frictional is indeed making another horror game, because the short story itself is a classic of sci-fi horror.

BioShock 2 On Steam Free For People with Original Release, Discounted For Others
Posted on November 9, 2013 at 11:57 am
When 2K Games released BioShock 2 on PC, it carried with it the despised (and now deceased) Games for Windows Live. Now that Games for Windows Live is not any more, those who owned a Games for Windows Live version can redeem their codes on Steam without cost with an added bonus.
Existing owners get the Minerva’s Den DLC free when moving over to Steam a good way to smooth the transition as a result of the sunset of Games for Windows Live. The Steam version also comes with controller and achievement support, in conjunction with Big Picture mode.
For those who haven’t yet played BioShock 2, it is just $9.99 through October 7. Additionally it is available in a bundle with the unique BioShock for a complete of $19.99. The Minerva’s Den DLC is on the market for purchase at a reduced rate of $4.99.
If you’ve not played the unique BioShock titles, now’s a good time to feature them for your collection.
Our Take
Playing through BioShock Infinite’s Burial at Sea DLC makes me nostalgic for the unique adventures in Rapture. If you have not played these at the PC, picking up both for $19.99 is tough to show down.

Some Valve Steam Machine Prototypes Coming With NVidia Titans
Posted on November 8, 2013 at 10:12 am
Valve has just revealed new information about the specs for the prototype Steam Machines. These beta devices are decked out with some pretty powerful innards.
Valve might be shipping out 300 prototypes with the subsequent specifications:
- GPU: some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and a few GTX660
- CPU: some boxes with Intel: i7-4770, some i5-4570, and a few i3
- RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB DDR5 (GPU)
- Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD
- Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold
- Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high
A cursory check on Newegg.com reveals that the video cards start as little as $200 with the GTX660, but go up as high as about $1,000 for the Titan. The i3 is set $110, the i5-4570 is set $200, and the i7-4770 is ready $300.
Assuming that the highest video cards are paired with the highest processors, the value range for the Steam Machines specified above are about $610 to $1,600 before the price of the case. The mid-range model (assuming an i5 paired with both middle tier graphics cards) can be between $750 – $1,250.
“Sooner or later we’ll discuss how Steam can assist customers understand the variations between machines, hardware strengths and weaknesses, and upgrade decisions,” a post on Valve’s Steam website states.
[Source: Valve]
Our Take
I’m interested to peer how Valve approaches communicating the advantages and differences within the different machines to these gamers that are not currently embedded in PC gaming. I’m also confused by many of the other statements within the post, specifically the part during which Valve says that the prototypes aren’t meant to exchange high-end gaming PCs.
I remember that gamers who have already got great rigs will need to use a Steam Machine for streaming, but when a machine with a Titan and i7-4770 isn’t meant to rival a gaming PC, then what exactly is the hook?

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition Heading To PS4, PS Vita And PC
Posted on November 8, 2013 at 7:17 am
Injustice: Gods Among Us was hailed as top-of-the-line fighting games of the year when it was released at the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U back in April. Now the DC fighter is making the jump to a few more platforms next month complete with all of its DLC.
WB Games announced today that Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition will hit the PS4, PS Vita and PC next month. This version of the sport includes everything that was within the base game plus all of the DLC. The DLC includes all costumes and the six playable characters that were released post launch – Lobo, Martian Manhunter, Batgirl, General Zod, Zatanna and Scorpion.
While the sport will hit the PS4, PS Vita and PC next month, the PlayStation Blog post announcing the scoop focused exclusively at the Vita version. It’s being developed by the team at Armature Studios – the similar team liable for this month’s Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The developers say that the Vita version will retain each of the features of the PS3 version, including 60 FPS gameplay. On top of that, it’ll also add Vita specific features like local ad-hoc multiplayer and touch controls for Story Mode and S.T.A.R. Labs missions.
As for the PS4 and PC versions, the sole news we now have on them is that they’re coming in November. VG247 reports that the PS4 version will launch on November 29 alongside the eu launch of the PS4. It’s not known yet if the identical holds true for the U.S. PS4 launch on November 15. As for the computer release, it is going to be available sooner or later in November in addition.
Oh, and people gamers who only have a PS3 or Xbox 360 aren’t being omitted. The final Edition might be available on those platforms next month in addition.
UPDATE: IGN reports that Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition will launch on PS4, PS Vita, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 12 in North America.

The Walking Dead Episode One Now Free On XBLA And PSN
Posted on November 7, 2013 at 1:58 pm
If you haven’t yet played Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead, now could be a great time to attempt it out. The 1st episode of the five-part title is now free on Xbox Live (worldwide) and PlayStation Network (North America).
Telltale has also announced that the season pass, which delivers all five episodes, has now been reduced to $14.99 at the PlayStation Network. Telltale is readying The Wolf Among Us, in response to Bill Willingham’s Fables comic books, and season two of The Walking Dead.
Our Take
As keen on point-and-click adventures and The Walking Dead source material, Telltale’s work was a thrill for me to play through. i might also recommend the 400 Days DLC, because it will bridge both seasons (and tells five interesting stories about up to date characters).

The Long Dark Could be the Post-Apocalyptic Survival Game You’ve Been Looking forward to
Posted on November 7, 2013 at 9:31 am
The post-apocalyptic setting is so passé at the present time. Evidently everybody and their dog desires to get in at the action with only a few games (i.e. The Last Folks, Fallout: New Vegas) actually getting it right. Now a team of established industry veterans desires to take a stab on the genre, and that they need your help to do it.
Hinterland, a development team made of former BioWare, Ubisoft Montreal, Volition and Riot Games developers, revealed The Long Dark earlier this month. The sport is billed as a post-apocalyptic survival game set inside the Northern wilderness. The focal point is exactly on survival as players must navigate a frigid wasteland searching out supplies and heat to stick alive.
The Long Dark isn’t essentially survival though. The sport will ask players to make tough moral choices within the name of survival. It could also task players to determine the cause behind the worldwide disaster.
The developers are promising so much, but it’s always a bit of dubious to back something when there’s no gameplay to point out for it. It sort of feels the parents at Hinterland understand this, and feature provided almost five minutes of prototype gameplay footage to turn what they’re looking to achieve with The Long Dark.
If the above video has you interested, possible back The Long Dark on Kickstarter today. There’s eight days left with the team having raised $118,000 of the $200,000 they’re inquiring for.

Report: Layoffs Coming At Capcom Europe
Posted on November 6, 2013 at 1:50 pm
Capcom’s European operation may be hit by a similar layoffs that afflicted the U.S. office this summer.
According to MCV, up to half the employees at Capcom Europe would be let go.
A statement by a Capcom Europe spokesperson doesn’t mention whether there’ll be layoffs, but reads: “Following a restructure at its U.S. operation, Capcom’s European organization is currently evaluating its structure to make certain it’s inside the best position to exploit the changing market conditions the industry is facing.”
Earlier this summer, Capcom’s U.S. branch suffered layoffs, including senior vice chairman Christian Svennson. We reached out to Capcom for extra clarification at the impact and severity of the layoffs. We received the statement above in response.
[Source:MCV]
Our Take:
The only good which can come of that is that the corporate re-focuses itself for the longer term. But even before the layoffs hit, the corporate noted the high costs of next-gen development. Although i do not know exactly what Capcom has cooking behind-the-scenes, if it’s unsure in regards to the move into next-gen, it may worsen before it gets better.

Half-Life 3 Trademark News Seems To Be A Hoax
Posted on November 6, 2013 at 12:47 pm
Maybe someday, we will be able to look back on these developments and laugh as we begin our umpteenth playthrough of Half-Life 3. Until that point, the safest approach is to take every bit of reports concerning Valve’s seminal game with the most important grain of salt you may get your hands on, notwithstanding the scoop comes from directly from Valve (see the HL3 t-shirt hubbub for further details). With that during mind, the inside track of the Half-Life 3 European trademark registration leading to a hoax should include absolutely no surprise.
Sure, the hassle is valiant, and it undoubtedly worked on the subject of generating renewed hype for those four words the gaming community longs to listen to-”Half-Life 3 confirmed”-but it surely was concerned with naught. PCGamesN.com has the main points:
We reported that the Half-Life 3 trademark registered every week ago was the work of Valve, but that now seems highly unlikely. The mark has now lost its page at the EU site – and are available to consider it, was made in suspicious proximity to the same mark for Portal 3.
A quick search of the trademark database within the link confirms the “Unsuccessful search: Found 0 trade marks” of status of Half-Life 3, no less than in Europe. This moves players back right into a square one status. Almost, anyway. While the trademark hoax is a specific thing, there’s been no denial/retraction in regards to the story that appeared in RockPaperShotgun.com, perhaps the smartest PC gaming blog on the net. As a refresher, their post indicated the next:
There is something called Jira that Valve uses for project management. Everything they do is tracked on it, and last night it accidentally went public-at the NeoGaf forum-and OHMYGOD THERE’S A HALF-LIFE 3 TEAM ON IT! No Ricochet 2 team, however.
Perhaps that may be the ray of hope for folk to lean on. Until the time Half-Life 3 is truly confirmed and/or released, right here Twitter account is perhaps your best resource for Half-Life 3′s release status:
No.
